They're Everywhere!

I can't believe how fast things are changing in the toadlet arena.  When I checked on the "fleet" this morning I find they have spread out to every pond.  That means dozens have taken the wild ride through the skimmer and pump to be spit out of the water pipe into the bio-falls.  While there are still about half stick'n close to their birth-rock the rest have ventured to all points of the compass.

Whoohoo!

We fill our firetrucks with lake water and sometimes those tanks are not recycled for months. I remember once I dumped the water into the portatanks and when I looked into the the pool I found a few fish swimming around (I actually took one home in a Mtn. Dew can and it lived in my fishtank for several years before I finally returned it to the lake.) There was also a full size crawdad!! These tough little guys made it through the screen and pump and the high velocity of the fill water. They then grew up in a closed dark water container. I'm glad they lived and I saw them in the pool. Most fish get ripped up and clog my nozzles. Lesson: If your rural water nozzle does not perform as it ought to then the first step is to flush it and get fish pieces cleared from the end. True!! Kind of nasty. Most people joke about BBQ hot dogs and marshmallows at a fire, but firefighters from the boonies know it's actually a fish fry!! HAHAHA
