My Evolving Frog Blog

Initially this Frog Blog started when the bullfrog living in our backyard pond was observed stalking and eating a bird. The drama of the hunt and subsequent capture or escape of the prey was spellbinding. This is what prompted me to start blogging about activity in my pond and backyard.

The first blog post was in August, 2008. As my interest in blogging grew my stories about the bird eating frog diminished. I guess you can only have so much drama in watching a frog hunt a bird and then it kinda runs out of gas. Of course when Joe the bullfrog disappeared in 2009 the Frog Blog was lacking it's main character.

By the end of 2009 the Frog Blog was really more of a "what's happening in my backyard" blog. There are cycles to what goes on in the yard. Winter is the slow period and late summer is the most active time. The blog reflects this seasonality. You can read about plants, birds, wasps, frogs of course, toadlets, toads, building waterfalls and finding leaks. You can also read about crazy stuff that has happened that may make you smile.

All the pictures I've taken unless noted otherwise and for the most part everything I write about has happened right there.
