Chick-Pics and Out Front

The chicks are growing so fast. They change, it seems, from morning to evening. They are now sporting more colors with brown feathers beginning to appear on their back.  They are also filling out the nest. Today is day 9 and they will fledge in about a week or so... folks in the know say they fledge from 12 to 17 days after hatching.

Here are the chick-pics for today:

The second picture is a closeup of part of the first picture. You can see their "brushes" are longer and if you look at the feathers coming out just below the head/neck you will see the darker brown feathers.  Also under the eye are small feathers.  There is a whole lot of stuff to see in these pictures so I invite you to look closely.  If you like, I will send you the originals so you can view at whatever detail you prefer.

I also took a couple of pictures of the front yard... yep, we do have one and it's often ignored because there is so much activity out back.

The carpet roses are blossoming. They will be with us all summer. Very brilliant flowers.  You can see the candles
on the bristle cone pine. This particular tree has been struggling since we planted it in the fall of 2005 but looks
like it is finally established and grow.

You can see the carpet rose to the right of the bristle cone pine. Our riverbed that actually turns into a small river
when it rains.

The east side of the yard is another bristle cone pine that has been doing much better than it's brother across
the riverbed.  The front yard is finally past it's infancy and starting to mature.

Clear skies with a high about 72 today. Beautiful.

Whoohoo!

Do you have drip lines to water things or do they survive by themselves? Just wondering if this is all low water maintenance. Very diverse. I like that.
